Summer Sunday

Feast of Corpus Christi and solemn procession.
Holy priest donning gold and scarlet vestments.
Rose petals strewn about the streets.

"Holy God, we praise Thy Name."
St. Remigius' bells of 1835 ring.
Standards of old this solemnity meets.

Back at home then, church domestic.
Toddler napping in the hammock.
Infant nursing, softly dreaming.

Husband fishing, deeply breathing
sweet refreshment of God's creation.
Noon sun warming, west wind cooling.

Ah, yes. Those are the makings for a summer Sunday.

I'm way behind, but that was awesome! Mom. I hope all goes well with your mother's surgery today.
